Karrin Taylor Robson, Kari Lake and other candidates seeking the GOP nomination for Arizona Governor met today in the race’s first and only televised Primary debate, co-hosted by Arizona Clean Elections and Arizona PBS.
Taylor Robson displayed a command of the issues – from border security to school choice, the economy and more – befitting someone who has spent decades in the conservative movement and working with public policy.
“Karrin Taylor Robson was in charge in this debate and showed the poise and command of a true conservative leader. She has solid plans to secure our border, grow the economy and protect what makes Arizona special,” said former Governor Janice K. Brewer, who has endorsed Taylor Robson. “Arizona voters got a look at their next Governor today: Karrin Taylor Robson.”
Taylor Robson used the 60-minute debate to detail priorities of her administration, including her 6-point plan to secure the border, provide relief for Arizona families struggling with inflation costs, and protect our water supply. Taylor Robson methodically contrasted her conservative track record – including 28 years as a GOP Precinct Committeewoman – against Lake, an Obama-donating, mass amnesty-advocating former Democrat.
“Arizona Republicans have a clear choice in this election: a conservative fighter like me with a track record of results, or an actress like Kari Lake playing the part of a conservative,” said Taylor Robson. “Judging by the groundswell of support for our campaign that is growing by the day, I trust Arizona voters to make the right decision.”
Even before the debate began, Lake was up to her usual antics as she protested and had The Arizona Republic – the state’s newspaper of record – removed as co-moderator of the debate. Lake was little more composed during the debate itself as the perpetually-aggrieved candidate lobbed meritless accusations at her fellow candidates, the moderator and others.
“Kari Lake demonstrated again in this debate that she is unserious, unqualified and unfit to be Arizona’s next Governor,” said Matthew Benson, spokesman for the Karrin for Arizona campaign. “Karrin Taylor Robson is ready to lead on Day One, and we will continue making our case to Arizona voters between now and Election Day.”
